Stentor Violin
One of the most famous brands for student violins is Stentor. They offer such a large line of instruments so they can afford to sell their products at a lower price. That is one of the good things about this brand, they offer high quality instruments at a fraction of the price that you will normally get from other manufacturers. If you are buying an instrument for your child who is just starting to learn how to play, then a Stentor violin should be okay. Just don’t expect that to last for long, because once your child learns really how to play they are going to need an upgrade on their instrument pretty soon.
Yamaha Violin
Yamaha is one of the leading musical instrument makers in the world. Yamaha instruments are not only limited to violins, they also create high quality guitars and other musical instruments. Yamaha is also seen as one of the best brands of violin for beginners. The Yamaha V5 SA is one of the best student violins ever. The bridge of this violin is well made with perfect spacings. It produces a powerful sound with just the right clarity. There are several drawbacks to this violin. First is the fingerboard which is pointed and the neck is painted which will both show wear and tear pretty quickly. The strings are set a little too high. Then the tuning pegs that were used for its construction are of low quality.
Considering the quality of these two violin brands I would say that it is better to go for a Yamaha as their instruments have better quality overall. Despite the drawbacks to the Yamaha violin that I have mentioned I can still say with confidence that Yamaha violins are better when compared with those from Stentor.
