Tuning Your Violin
Before the violin can be played properly, the violinist or anyone who’s playing it needs to make sure that it is properly tuned. The importance of tuning cannot be overestimated. You might even have the required talent, but if you do not take care to learn the basics and fundamentals of the violin, of which tuning is a part, then you might as well forget about playing it. For tuning a violin, the following are needed: a tuner, tuned piano or keyboard, perfect pitch, and a violin teacher if needed.
When tuning a violin, it is very important to know that there are actually two ways for you to tune it. One is through tuning pegs and the other is using string adjusters or fine tuners. Use the fine tuners when the strings are less than half a note out of tune, while the tuning pegs are used when the strings are at least a half a note out of tune. Note that the tuning range of fine tuners is smaller than that of the turning pegs.
