Pursuing a dream can be an up and down affair. There will be highs, and sure enough, there will come the time for lows as well. When the times are going great, you feel as if nothing can ever go wrong, that the dream that you have been pursuing for so long is right within your reach and only a little more push is required to finally get it. But then the inevitable low points will just be the opposite, where your determination and fortitude will be out to the test, making you think whether the pursuit of your dream is really worth it. I experienced both, in pursuing my dream to become a musician. Fortunately for me, I never gave up, and still go on until this very day.
I’m going to admit that trying to become a musician is not an easy thing to do. It is especially tough if you are trying to make a living off of being one. That’s exactly what I have been trying to do these last few years, and it’s been tough. Being a guitarist is what I always wanted to be, so I continue on, no matter what. But I have also begun adding to my repertoire, so to speak. Becoming a versatile musician will only do good things for me, so I have learned the drums as well. Right now, I am in the midst of learning how to play the violin, and it ahs been both challenging and rewarding. And I enjoy learning the little details involved in playing the violin.
Rehairing the Violin
Here are tips on how to rehair a violin bow:
• Actually, rehairing a bow should be done by a luthier. Rehairing the violin should be done by a trained professional because it is considered to be a delicate process.
• Disassemble the bow for cleaning purposes, but first check if there is any structural damage. The hardwood plugs for the head and frog should be cut precisely.
• Next is the selection and preparation of the horse hair. It is believed that the ideal amount of hair strands should number about 150.
• Make sure to cut the hair at the ideal tension. This is when the minimum allowable tension is recognized at the point where the hair still retains some spring and is only a millimeter away from the shaft.
• The next step would be to string the hair on the bow. After doing so, check to see if the hair loosens and tightens properly and that it is secured in the tip and the frog.
